In this blog post we will discuss ideas regarding how to stop procrastinating. Procrastination is a huge problem that prevents many of us from maximizing productivity and getting work done. Whether you are a student or creative professional, it can often be hard to stop procrastinating and get down to work. In this blog post I will discuss various techniques and mindsets to help you break out of this unproductive habit of procrastination.

How To Stop Procrastinating

If you are engaged in any kind of creative activity, you will understand how easy it is to get into a cycle of procrastination. We know in our mind we need to do something, but we neglect to actually get down to work. Instead of getting busy with what we need to do, often we will look for distractions to pass the time. This is a way of delaying the inevitable work that we have to do. Unfortunately, if you are a freelance writer or content creator, this procrastination can really lead to a lack of productivity quickly. Let’s discuss why you should limit the amount of time you spend procrastinating and start focusing on productive activities instead.

Procrastination Limits Success

If you spend the majority of your time procrastinating you will limit your ability to succeed in life. When I was studying in University, I spent quite a bit of time procrastinating. I knew I had assignments that needed to be done, but I would often put them off until the last minute. You may be able to get away with this kind of activity in an academic setting, but it will rarely serve you well in the real world. If you are a freelance writer who spends most of their day procrastinating and only a small portion of the day writing, it will likely be quite hard to succeed. So how do you motivate yourself to stop procrastinating and instead focus on your creative activities? You need to realize that there is no reward for procrastination.

No Reward For Procrastination

Whenever you are sitting there, scrolling through social media instead of being creative, remember; there is no reward for procrastination. If you sit around procrastinating all day, I can pretty much guarantee that you will not be successful. As I mentioned in my last article, hard work is the key to success. You need to work very hard in order to achieve greatness in today’s competitive environment. If you are spending most of your day procrastinating, how can you rise to the challenges of our modern age? You will not be rewarded for idly browsing social media or news websites. Those news websites and social media sites will actually make money off of you spending time on their sites. Start spending time creating your own content instead.

No Pain = No Gain

It can often feel easier and more enjoyable to consume content rather than be the one producing it. Often we fall into the trap of simply consuming media but not producing it ourselves. This is a negative trap that will hurt us financially if we are not careful. Perhaps many people simply have no desire to be writers or content creators of any kind. If you are one of those people then this article may not apply to you. However, if you are someone that wants to create content for a living, beware of the trap of consuming too much of other people’s content. If you consume too much content from other writers and creators it will limit the time and energy you have to create your own productions. The Key To Stop Procrastination

The main sources of distraction when you are trying to get things done tend to be various types of outside media sources. Social media companies, online video websites, advertisers and others are spending millions of dollars annually in hopes that you spend more time on the internet consuming content. When you have something to do in life and you feel like distracting yourself, it is far too easy to scroll to a myriad of websites and lose hours of time in the process. That is precious time wasted that you could have spent working on your artistic craft. While you should spend some time researching various topics online if you are a writer, it can become a problem if too much time is spent.


You have to realize that no real reward will arise from spending hours scrolling through various social media websites. You need to focus on your priorities. There are most likely various goals and activities that you personally want to achieve in life. You don’t have time to keep up with the activities of every actor or celebrity. You need to focus on yourself, first and foremost. Spend at least as much time creating your own content as you do consuming the content of others. If you are spending most of the day consuming the content of other people then you are generally not going to be the best content creator you can be.

Hard Work Is The Key To Success

In this article, I will write about why hard work is the key to success in business and life. This may seem obvious, the harder you work, the more you will achieve. However, many people in life are often looking for a shortcut to success. While a few people may get lucky and win various sorts of lotteries in life, I believe that for the majority of people; hard work is the key to success. Let’s expand on this idea a bit more.

Hard Work Is The Key To Success

In previous articles I have written about how consistency is key when you are engaging in media production and business activities. You must put forth a consistent level of hard work in order to succeed in society today. Successful entrepreneurs like Mark Cuban have stated in interviews that he believes hard work is the key to success. Think about it for a moment. Whenever you engage in any kind of business activity you are rarely operating in a “vacuum” as Mark Cuban describes it. There are always competitive forces around you. You always need to outwork your competition in order to succeed.

People Respect Work Ethic

When you see someone working hard to achieve their goals, it can be inspiring. People tend to respect others who have worked hard to achieve what they did, rather than someone who simply got very lucky. Imagine a co-worker who wins a large lottery and quits their job. The co-workers who have to remain working at that job may resent the lottery winning co-worker and their newly found wealth. This is why I believe you should not always seek to get ahead in life by some kind of lucky or extremely risky tactic. Sometimes you may get lucky here and there in life and business, but you should not bet on it. Count on the fact that working hard will bring you success. That’s a guarantee you can be sure of.

Winners Work Hard

Billionaire founder of Tesla, Elon Musk, has stated similar sentiments in the past about the power of hard work. In interviews he has said that you can accomplish in 4 months what would take someone else a year if you work 100 hours per week. Watch the video clip below to hear Elon talk about the power of hard work when asked about how to succeed as an entrepreneur.

So don’t just take my word for it. Billionaires like Mark Cuban and Elon Musk are telling you the exact same thing. The key to success is hard work. The only other way you might get successful is by luck, and you don’t want to bank on luck. You want to do what you know works, and that’s hard work.


So if you’re an entrepreneur of any kind you need to realize this fact. Success will not magically materialize by itself. You need to put in the work. Focus, work hard, and success will happen. You just need to be consistent, vigilant, and never give up. I believe if we all work hard we can achieve. Believing in Yourself: Building Confidence

You need to start believing in yourself as an artist or content creator. If you do not have the confidence to create, you will stop doing so. Creativity is not difficult, we have just been told that it is. Anyone can be an artist or content creator, you just need to be in the right frame of mind.

Believing in Yourself

We have been programmed to believe that only certain special people get the right to be creative. Some people think that in order to be an artist, you need to study at art school. I recently told someone that I might like to try my hand at creating visual art. This person told me “if only you could take a course in that…”

Why do some people make us feel that we are always inadequate in some way and that we need to pay or study with someone else in order to make us adequate?

I feel like this is part of the problem with modern society. People make a living off of teaching us that we are somehow inadequate and that we need others to educate us properly. Some college students go deeply into debt to study art under the assumption that they are not quite good enough. For example, it currently costs $75,000 per year to go to Harvard University. If a musician or artist was good enough, why would they need to pay a prestigious institution in order to be educated on what is “good” or “bad” art? I’m not saying these institutions are bad but they do have a vested interest in the idea that we are not yet complete without their help. This is why I think you need to start believing in yourself and your own instincts more.

Not Quite Good Enough

Forget those people who ever told you that you were not quite good enough. You do not need those kinds of people in your life. As a musician or artist, you are perfectly fine just as you are. Keep creating the music and art that you want to create. Quit trying to mold yourself into what other people would like you to be. You will never be perfect enough for these people. Create the kinds of music and art that you want to create. Period. Do not try to settle up to someone else’s version of perfection. You will be left unsatisfied in the end.

Be Confident in Who You Are

Creativity should not be difficult. If you are having to strain to create something then maybe you are not creating something you enjoy. Creativity should flow easily and naturally. If it was painful for you to create something then it may end up being somewhat painful for the person who has to experience your creation. In other words, if you had to struggle and strain to create something, chances are it won’t be enjoyed as much by the person who experiences it. Imagine a musician who actually doesn’t enjoy the music they are making. They may trick some people into enjoying their music but it will not be genuine and that musician will soon stop creating.

Creative Flow

The key to being creative is to having a good creative flow. You need to remove the critics in the back of your head while you create. There will always be those negative voices in your head as you create something. You might have thoughts like “this sounds bad” or “no one will like this music”. Try to ignore those thoughts and let your creativity flow naturally. Silence those critics in your head and just create. Imagine if every time you went to create music, you went back and looked at it in a negative light. You would soon stop creating. Stop criticizing your own music and art. Create it and put it out. Let the world decide if they like it or not.


Overall, you need to start believing in yourself more. In order to be creative, you need to silence those negative critics in your head which keep telling you that you can not do something. You are not inadequate. You’re already a great creator. Just create. You are not a creator if you do not create so stop letting those negative critics in your head prevent you from doing so. Start being creative now. The world needs your creativity. It doesn’t need to be perfect. Just be yourself and let your creativity flow.

Daily Routine: Building Good Habits

Building up a good daily routine is very important. Have you ever noticed how when you do something one day, you tend to repeat it the next day? It is easy to get into the habit of doing something. Our daily routine may contain good and bad habits. The key is to building a routine with many positive habitual actions while trying to reduce negative activities.

Daily Routine

If you start building good habits each day, it becomes easier to repeat those actions over time. Someone who has the habit of waking up daily and exercising will find it easier to do so than someone who does not have that routine. Why not start building good habits into your daily routine? It can improve your life, make you healthier, and more successful in your career. In a previous article I have written about the power of consistently taking action towards achieving your goals. You can not have consistency without building a positive daily habitual routine.

Make a list

Try making a list of all your bad habits and try to replace them with good activities. Perhaps your room is a mess and you never make your bed. Try getting into the habit of making your bed each morning. It will make your room tidier and it’s a good productive activity to start the day. Are you sometimes in a hurry and you skip breakfast? That can become a negative habit as well. Force yourself to eat a solid breakfast each morning, and it will soon become an ingrained habit. There are many unhealthy activities in our daily routine that we can work to change each day. Think about what habits you want to modify and go from there.


If you want to improve your life, you need to build good habits. A daily routine containing positive actions will lead to a more productive and fulfilled life. Take time to critically assess yourself and your behaviors. Which actions in your life are unnecessarily dragging you down and harming your health? Work to improve your habits and you can improve your life.

Passion: Do What You Love To Do

In this blog I will write about the power of really following your passion and doing what you love to do. It seems like an obvious thing but let’s expand this a bit more deeply. This idea was recently brought to my attention by author Gary Vaynerchuk. He talks about the idea that people are not really lazy, they just do not like what they are currently doing in life. In other words, individuals are often not passionate about what they try to do in life, and then wonder why they do not succeed.


Once you listen to Gary talk about this idea, you understand it, it makes sense. Let me explain how it relates to me. Sometimes I feel really uninspired to make music. I’m not sure why I have this pressure to produce music. At one point, I had a goal to be a successful music producer. If I am not pursuing that goal, it doesn’t necessarily mean that I am lazy. Maybe, deep down, I am just not as passionate about being a music producer as I used to be. That’s okay. Passions can change over time. They say that once you find your true passion it does not feel like work. If making music is starting to feel like work, then maybe it is not my passion.

Finding what you enjoy

If you could make a living and have it not feel at all like work, what would you be doing? Writing, for me, seems like a fairly enjoyable to make an income. For others it might not be their passion. What’s cool about writing is that you can basically do it until the day you die. Even if you are unable to physically type words into a computer, you could record yourself and have it transcribed into written word. In tough times, our thoughts and ideas are often what we are left with. You can almost always find something new to write about. Think about what you love to do that doesn’t feel at all like work, this is your passion.


I am going to keep this blog post very short today to enforce the point of this article. Writing a super long blog post today would feel like work to me, and probably feel like work to you as a reader as well. Keep what you do enjoyable, but don’t overdo it. If you love being a DJ, go for it, but don’t DJ 18 hours a day, you’ll burn out. Everything in moderation.

Cleaning Your Home: The Joy of House Care

Cleaning your home

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young had a great hit song back in the 1970’s entitled “Our House “. I wish there were more songs in praise of “home”.

Early Memories

One of my early memories about feeling proud of my living quarters was while spending a month at a summer camp when I was eleven years old. Every morning my tent mates and I rolled up and tied the sides and front flaps of our old canvas tent, letting in light and fresh air. Then we tidied up our cots, tucked clothes, boots, etc. in their proper places, organized orange crates neatly and swept the floor boards clean. The final touch was a small bouquet of wild flowers in an enamel cup placed near the tent entrance.

During the morning while we participated in swimming, canoeing lessons, and other camp activities, the camp nurse, with clipboard in hand, made her inspection rounds. After lunch with all the campers
present the nurse would announce her tent group ratings. The group with the top score got to keep a big, beautiful, handmade stuffy owl for the day. The competition was fun and the tents were ridiculously
tidy and attractive.

Helpful tips

Over the years I have picked up helpful tips about keeping my home up to an acceptable standard, from my perspective. The tip contributors include my sister, my sister-in-law, a nursing school instructor, and oh yes, my mother too.

1. As the kitchen goes so goes the house or apartment. Always start with the kitchen.

2: Undesirable microbes prefer dark, damp places. Let daylight in where ever possible and ring out kitchen cloths and sponges. Drape them in ways to let them dry out.

3: Keep gravity in mind. Pay attention to floors.

4: With a two story set up have baskets at the top and bottom of the stairs. During the day when you pick up toys, clothes, and other items; put them in the closest basket. Then when going up or downstairs take a basket along with you. This will reduce trips!

5: Give your home a gift now and then, a coat of paint, new curtains, maybe a chair or whatever you like and can afford.

6: This is the fun one. Plan a party or get together with friends. Then prep your home for the occasion. Make attractive changes, big or small. For example, change pictures on the wall, tidy bookshelves, have a few games handy. Let the house reflect your unique style.

Final piece of advice

Finally, a saying I am quite fond of is “when in doubt, go out”, preferably on a pleasant day. Then return with new insight to your safe, charming abode, your very own creation.

Motivation: Tips to Help You Keep You Motivated

We all suffer from lack of motivation from time to time. I know I have gone through periods where I did not feel motivated to do much in life. At other times in my life, I have had quite strong feelings of motivation. In this article I will write about some tips to boost your motivation.


Often we are faced with difficult challenges in life. We may have to do certain activites which we do not actually want to do. There are many unpleasant things life in that we have to deal with daily. If we try to look at the big picture and focus on why we are doing something, it can help us to stay motivated. You may be working a job you dislike. You may have an irate customer at your place of business who is insulting you and getting on your nerves. Try to look beyond the situation and to the bigger picture. Remember your goals and dreams for the future and remain calm.

I have had many high points and lows in my life. I used to work mutiple retail jobs where the managers would repeatedly tell me to wash the windows over and over again, even when the windows were clean. Only to make it look like I was busy doing something. At times like this, just laugh to yourself, and remember that you are being paid. Plan to do something with that money. Instead of taking the money you earned working that job at the mall and going and spending it on the latest pair of sneakers, invest that money instead.

Save up for a down payment on a house that you can rent out and make income. Invest in low risk stock market activity and have your money grow. Use the money you make to start a business you actually enjoy. Where you are at right now is not where you are going. Work hard, but always have a plan for how you can get out of any situation that you do not want to be in.

Everything is temporary

In order to maintain motivation, try to see beyond your current circumstances. Know that there is a better future for you ahead if you work hard. Many times we put ourselves in situations that we do not enjoy because we feel we have to suffer in order to achieve. Many people have a “no pain, no gain” mentality. They deliberately force themselves to work jobs they dislike because they feel that this is the only way to “get ahead”.

If we look around us though, we see many people who this kind of lifestyle does not apply to. Famous authors, musicians, actors, rich investors, and many other people do not live this kind of lifestyle. The rich understand the game of money. I’m sure you have heard of Robert Kiyosaki, the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” author. He says that the rich do not work for money, they have their money work for them. You can do this too, if even on a small scale.

Even if you only invest $100 into something and in one year it makes you $10 on top of your original investment, you’ve still done well. The average annual return for the stock market overall is about 10%. Say you invest that $100 into an S&P500 index fund and it makes you $10 in a year. If you decide to sell those shares, you have no profited $10. That could buy you 2 discount fast food combos. Enough to feed you for a day. Ignore my example of it seems absurd to you. I’m just trying to illustrate to power of putting your money away and profiting off of it. It buys you a free lunch over time.

Focus on the future

Here’s how to stay motivated. Remember that where you are at, is not where you are going. If you are a young person, you have the blessing of time on your hands. If you are working an entry level job and having a hard time, do not worry. Save your money, invest, and start early. In the long run you can be rich. There is a bright future for all of us if we are diligent and invest our money carefully. If more people do this, we will have more millionaires around us. Everyone can benefit from the growth of our corporations. Unfortunately too many of us do not have extra money to invest. Or people spend on things they do not need. A lot of us are not trained on how to invest. Many miss out on the profits of corporate America due to a lack of knowledge.


In order to maintain motivation you have to realize that you are not stuck where you currently are right now in life. Often we feel unmotivated because we dislike the job we are in or what we are studying in school. There’s ways to change what you are doing in life. Work every single day with the tools you have to strive for a better life. Anything is possible with enough dedication, willpower, and effort.

Starting A Blog: How To Begin The Process

In this article I will write all about the basics of starting a blog. There are many reasons why you might be thinking about starting a blog. In this post I will go over some of the advantages of starting a blog and explain how easy it is to get started.

Starting a blog

There are many reasons to start a blog. One reason is that blogging can be a fun hobby. Picking up a new craft can be a fun activity to engage in so why not try your hand at blogging? It is almost always fun to explore a new creative outlet once in a while. The simple joy of writing is a great reason to be starting a blog.

Making an income

Also, it is possible to make an income from starting a blog. Once you learn the skills involved in writing and producing written content, it’s possible to have advertising on your website. You can use programs like Google Adsense to allow advertisements to be placed on your blog. You can also engage in what is known as Amazon affiliate marketing. This is where you review a product and then leave an Amazon affiliate link to that product on If a reader from your website clicks on the link you provide and purchases the item, you earn a small percentage of the revenue from the sale of that product.

Creating a portfolio

Another good reason for starting a blog is that it creates a writing portfolio under your name. If you search online nowadays for jobs you will often notice that companies like to see examples of your work before interviewing or hiring you. If you are looking to work as a newspaper writer, social media operator, or marketer within a company, it would be a good idea think about starting a blog. This way you will have a portfolio of your work created and ready to showcase to any company that might wish to view it.

How to Start a Blog

There are many ways you can begin starting a blog. You can start by using free blogging platforms such as Google’s Blogger or WordPress. The website you are on now is made using WordPress and it is the platform that I would recommend. With the free versions of Blogger or WordPress you will not have your own custom domain name for your blog. You blog will look something like this if you use a free version. In order to have your own custom website domain like mine here at you will need to pay a web hosting company to “host” your domain for you. You can work with companies such as Godaddy or Bluehost in order to obtain a domain to host your WordPress blog on.


Starting a blog is a fun, rewarding, and enriching activity to engage in. You get to express your ideas, connect with people, and potentially earn an income. You can broadcast your thoughts to the world, all while building a portfolio of writing that may help you find a job in the future. Starting a blog is an activity with a lot of positive upside potential and not many drawbacks so I consider it a good activity for almost anyone.

Content Creator Tip: Create Consistently

In this blog post I will write about the importance of consistency as a content creator. There are several reasons why you should create content consistently. I will explain these reasons and offer you some motivation to create your content.

Why create consistently?

As a content creator, there is power in consistency. News organizations, for example, broadcast daily. Viewers of the news get into the habit of consuming those broadcasts and it becomes part of their daily routine. If one day the news broadcast decided not to air, they would lose viewers because the consistency of the schedule would be broken. News organizations broadcast information daily and consistently to enforce a subtle and hypnotic power over the citizens of a nation. By broadcasting a steady stream of information, they constantly reinforce that they are the ones you should trust to acquire data. The internet has revolutionized broadcasting and empowered you as an individual to be your own independent content creator and I think people should capitalize on this new freedom.

The show must go on

The goal of any media organization is to get you to keep consuming their content. Most people understand how this works. Media organizations often run ads before or alongside of their content in order to generate income. This website is no different. As an independent content creator I need to attempt to make an income as well. If media organizations stop producing content consistently, they generally will not have an income. They need to keep finding new content to create in order to keep you, the reader or viewer, watching.

Become the media

There’s an old saying, if you can’t beat them, join them. As individuals we should try to become broadcasters ourselves. I have become tired of regularly watching overpaid news broadcasters on television reading me the news from teleprompters. We should try to become our own broadcasters of information and stop relying on large media conglomerations. One of the best ways I have found to do this is through apps like TikTok. Other good ways are blogging, and YouTube.

Easier than you might think

I used to think it would be tiresome and difficult to start a YouTube channel or a blog, until I decided to just do it. The idea that you can possibly earn even a small income from your thoughts, ideas, and content is very motivating to me. I believe almost anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Being a content creator can be a lot of fun. You get to have your views and opinions broadcast out to the world. Also, you can build influence, meet new people, share ideas, and ultimately live a richer life.


As a content creator, you should be producing new material daily. In doing so, you become like a news organization. Eventually, people may turn to you for your content in order to help them in various ways. When they do, there’s a chance you can earn income and that can allow you the time to produce more content. It has the potential to become a rewarding career path or side business. I feel that being a content creator is one of the most enjoyable professions you can have, especially if you are a creative person.

Remember That You Will Die

Normally we do not like to think about our own death. The thought can be frightening. Once I had an experience where I felt like I was close to death. That experience changed my perspective on life forever. I believe that everyone should take some time to think about their own death. It can have profound implications on how you live your life today.

Everyone dies

Reminding yourself of your own mortality is one of the most powerful things you can do to motivate yourself to take action today. Here is how Steve Jobs put it in a commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005.

“Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Almost everything, all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure, these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.” – Steve Jobs

This quote from Steve Jobs resonates with me very deeply. Once you have had an experience of being close to death, you start to look at life from this perspective as well. This ties in with the idea I have written about before of living your life the way you want to live it. We only have this one life, we should live life to the fullest and enjoy the gift of every day. Do not waste your life engaging in something you dislike daily in order to gain some potential reward in the future. That future may never arrive.

Imagine you are diagnosed with an incurable cancer and given months to live. Your life might get cut short by a tragic auto accident. Would you be happy with how you have lived your life? Did you fulfill those dreams that you had? Would you be satisfied with how you spent your last day on this earth? These are a few powerful questions to think about.


Do not give away days, weeks, months, and years of your life to fulfill the agenda of someone else. If you are not satisfied with what you are doing then make a change. Life is short and time can fly by before you know it. As time goes by you will want to look back on what you did being proud and satisfied with that you have accomplished. Work hard to achieve something great that you can personally be proud of. Do not waste this precious life. It is a gift.
