Time Management Twitch Video Games

Best Time To Stream On Twitch

As a newer broadcaster on Twitch, I keep asking myself the question “what is the best time to stream on Twitch?”

In this article I hope to provide some answers for you based on what I have experienced and thought about lately.

Best Time to Stream on Twitch

First, I’d like to stress the importance of having a stream schedule on Twitch. If you look at most major streamers, they all have certain set times in which viewers can look forward to their broadcasts starting. When I first started streaming video games, I just went live whenever I wanted, and as often as I wanted. I was trying to build up followers on my stream. I’d heard of the idea of setting a stream schedule but never realized how important it actually is. I’ll discuss later why having a streaming schedule is so important. Just remember, before you start considering the best times to stream on Twitch, make sure you focus on having it be a consistent streaming schedule.

How often should you stream?

Personally, I would recommend not streaming every single day. I did this for a while and I did start to burn out. Try to have at least two days a week when you do not stream. This can give your mind a refresh and you will come back to the stream after feeling more energized. Think about your favorite television shows, they generally do not have new episodes which air every single day. Television programs sometimes have 5 new episodes per week, but generally a show will not have a new episode for every single day of the week. You do not have to stream every day. Again, look at what the pros do, they take breaks.

Try to be like a TV show

Although many of us no longer watch television in a traditional way, there are still lessons that can be learned from the television era. Television broadcasts usually always have set times in which they start. This allows for individuals to tune into their favorite show at their leisure and the viewer can know when the broadcast is set to start. Viewers can then plan their day around watching the broadcast. If you are a streamer who goes live randomly and at different times each day, it becomes difficult for viewers and fans to calculate when you might be going live. Again, try to stick to a consistent schedule when you stream on Twitch.

Best times to go live

This can depend on where you live. Let’s say you live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This would be in the Eastern Standard Time zone. From personal experience, I’ve been noticing that 3-4 PM EST is a good time to start your broadcast if you live in this time zone. If you have viewers in the UK, it would be around 8PM in their time zone at this time. This is still early enough for UK viewers to tune in to your broadcast while simultaneously reaching your North American audience.

Here is my new streaming schedule on Twitch so you can get an example of the stream schedule that I am currently using. I have decided I will now go live on Twitch on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, at 3PM Eastern Standard Time.

Previously, I was going live on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 4PM-6PM and then again at 8PM-10PM EST. What I noticed with this schedule is that I was potentially streaming too often and too late at night. Having two different streams in a day started to feel like I was doing a bit too much and I was beginning to feel tired by 9:30 PM. Also, I noticed viewers dropping off around 9-10PM, so this was not good for channel growth. Additionally, 8PM EST is 2AM in the UK, so this is not a good time for me to be streaming for my UK viewers. I believe that my new stream schedule will be better for most viewers who regularly tune in. Always consider your audience.

The time at which you start your stream is ultimately up to you, but I would like you to remember a few guidelines. Stick to a schedule, stream earlier rather than later, and limit the amount of days per week you stream. While it can be tempting to stream every single day, I would recommend taking some time away from your stream each week, while sticking to a consistent schedule of earlier rather than later start times. Starting earlier in the day will leave you with more energy as well. Save your evenings for relaxation and rest. It can be hard to sleep immediately after an intense round of video gaming as well.

Even with the set streaming schedule you can still go live randomly from time to time and surprise your followers. Just remember that breaks are important. Broadcasting can take a lot of energy from you. Don’t forget to take breaks in order to maintain longevity as a streamer and avoid burnout.

Thank you for taking the time to read this article and I hope these tips can help you decide the best time to stream on twitch. Have a great day.

Business Productivity Time Management

How To Be More Productive: Be Conscious of Time

In today’s blog post, I will write about how to be more productive by being conscious of time. It is important to achieve a certain level of productivity in today’s society. If you are a small independent business owner, for example, you may be competing with highly organized corporations. If you are not focused on productivity, how do you expect to compete with these highly developed, fine-tuned, profitable businesses? You will need to develop a method for being productive in order to remain competitive.

How to be more productive

In order to be more productive you will need to set time constraints on certain activities in your life. In a previous article, I have written about setting time limits on your creativity. You need to establish time constraints for yourself when you are trying to be productive. Without time limits you can spend too much time on certain tasks which are not adding to your overall productivity.

Let’s take the example of a blogger. In yesterday’s article, I wrote about why, as a blogger, you should write one new blog post each day. I would recommend setting a time limit on creating that daily blog of no more than an hour. Does that seems like a short amount of time to write an article? Let me tell you about my experience.

Some days, I can produce my daily blog in about half an hour to one hour. Other days, it can take me 4 hours to produce a post due to procrastination and time wasting. As you may know, I try to participate as a content creator in a wide variety of online media platforms. If I were to spend 4 hours every day on a single blog post, I would have a lot less time for these other platforms.

Only 24 hours in a day

You have heard the old saying, “time is money”. If I were to spend 4 hours each day working just on one blog post, I could have potentially earned $80 in that time at a $20 per hour job. In economics, they talk about opportunity cost. Opportunity cost is what you have to give up to get something. For example, let’s say I decide to quit a $30,000 per year job and go back to school. My opportunity cost is all the things I am giving up to go back to school, including the $30,000 I could have earned working the job.

Imagine you are a content creator. If you spend 4 hours in a day working on a blog, instead of half an hour, you’re missing out on all the other things you could have done in that additional 3.5 hour time period. You could have been producing a YouTube video as well. Or, you could have taken photos for Instagram, or made a video for TikTok. Additionally, you could have also streamed on Twitch for several hours as well. Spending 4 hours a day on a blog post might be fine if you are being paid by a large media corporation and that’s all you have to do in a day. Most independent bloggers and content creators will have multiple other things they need to do in a day rather than just their blog. It is not easy to make a living on blogging alone, so do not put all your eggs in one basket.

In order to be more productive you need to give yourself time constraints. You cannot spend all day completing one task. There are many tasks that need to be done in a day when you are running a business. If you spend 4 hours on something that could have been done in an hour, you are harming productivity. Try to put time constraints on activities and stick to those time schedules.

Sometimes in workplaces, you are given a training session to complete. Generally, workplaces do not give you the entire day to do the training at your leisure. Corporations put time constraints on employees in order to keep them productive. Perhaps, self-employed individuals need to adopt a similar mentality to boost their productivity as well. Taking multiple hours to complete a task that could have taken one only harms ourselves as small business proprietors.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog today. It was created in about 45 minutes. I am trying to follow my own advice on productivity and I hope you will try this method as well. Have a great day.

Waking Up Early: The Benefits Of An Early Start

In this article I will write about some of the benefits to waking up early in the day. There are many reasons why waking up quite early in the morning is a good thing for you to do. Let’s now go over why waking up early in the day is a good idea for you.

Waking up early

One benefit to waking up early in the day has to do with health. There are benefits to awakening and sleeping at the same times as the sun rises and sets. In modern times, with the invention of electricity and artificial lights, we hear of many people suffering from insomnia. Scientists know that artificial light keeps us awake at night. Try to sleep with your window blind’s open at night. This can help to eliminate insomnia. Imagine being woken up at 6:00 AM in the morning by the sun. Next, imagine how you would feel at 11 PM that night. It would be hard to stay awake past 11:00 PM if you had not had a nap. Waking up early can really help with insomnia and irregular sleeping patterns.

Quiet time of the day

Another reason for waking up early in the morning is that there are far less distractions than later in the day. Once other people have woken up, there are more phone calls, emails, and other kinds of interruptions which can arise during the day and disrupt your workflow. By waking up early in the day, you are ensuring yourself a small window of time to work on your projects, before the rest of the world wakes up and requires your attention for various reasons. You are also mentally alert and ready to handle your most important challenges of the day in the morning due to having a full night’s rest. I have written previously about the power of accomplishing your most important tasks first thing in the morning.

First thing in the morning is the best time to work on tasks.

The early bird

Waking up early provides you with an advantage in life. Before other people have woken up, you have already made strong progress towards achieving your goals. When it’s time to go to bed, with this method, you’ll fall asleep quickly and easily. Other people often stay up late, watching T.V., or interacting with their smartphones, and end up having a sub par sleep because of it. Sleep is very important. I’ll leave a link to a great book on sleep for you to check out here. It explains how sleep is of the utmost importance for our health and wellness.

Try waking up early each day. By waking up early, you can start to eliminate your insomnia. You will feel less depressed spending more time in the sun each day. Awakening and falling asleep with the sun is a more natural way to spend life. Avoid your smartphone or computer at night and get to bed early. Waking up early is one of the best ways to improve your health and productivity.

Internet Productivity Time Management

Producing Content VS Consuming Content

It’s so easy for billions of people to create content nowadays. It’s also easy to get lost in the information of others and never create your own. Seeing a lot of content from other people can make you shut down and stop creating your own. It’s easier to scroll social media and enjoy the productivity of others rather than creating. In this article I will talk about the advantages of producing content rather than consuming content.

Producing content

Content creators need to spend more of their time creating content rather than consuming the content of others. Those who do not give, can not receive. As a creator, do not simply sit back and enjoy the content that other people have produced online. You will only make income by producing your own content. You need to shift your mentality. Try to find more enjoyment in producing content rather than watching the content of others.

Consuming content

It’s simpler for most people to relax and enjoy content created by others rather than producing their own. Many people like to enjoy a television show or news broadcast. They have no desire to produce their own TV show or host the news. However, without becoming a media producer yourself, how can you make money in the content creation industry?

People like to watch the productions of others to get ideas for things that they can make content about too. That is fine. To a certain extent. A problem arises though due to the addictive nature of social media apps. If we consume too much of other people’s media, we forget to produce our own. When we do produce content, it suffers because most of our energy for the day has been taken watching others. As a creator, try creating your most important content first thing in the day before watching others. For more information on this morning mentality, I have an article explaining the power of accomplishing important tasks first thing daily.

When everyone is a content creator it is easy to get caught up in watching the content other people create and consequently not creating your own. Take a look at other people’s content from time to time but do not let it influence you too much. If you spent all your life consuming other people’s content you would lack originality and create nothing of your own. The lesson of today’s blog is to be more of a producer, and less of a consumer of content. Otherwise your voice could get lost in the shuffle of the internet.

How To Productivity Time Management

Accomplish Important Tasks in the Morning

In this blog post I will write about the benefits of accomplishing your most important tasks first thing in the morning. This approach has been very beneficial to me, especially during college. If you follow this approach you will be more productive and able to produce higher quality work with less effort.

I believe you will always do your best work first thing in the morning soon after waking up. The reason for this is that your mind and body has received rest during the night. Your mind is fresh and ready to accomplish the most important tasks of the day. Do not waste these precious morning hours. As the day goes by your tasks will become more difficult to accomplish.

As we move through the day we get more physically and mentally tired. Distractions tend to increase as well. Phones are ringing, emails are coming in, and social media becomes more active during the day. If we waste our morning hours watching TV or scrolling social media apps, we miss out on our most productive hours of the day.

A lot of people think the approach of staying up late at night to accomplish tasks and assignments is a good method. They believe that by drinking caffeine and staying up late they can squeeze extra productivity out of their day. What they don’t realize is that the mind is so tired at this point that it is not operating at the same capacity as it would be if you were well rested. As a student, I used to stay up until all hours of the night trying to complete assignments. I’m so glad I realized how important doing essential tasks in the morning is. The pattern of staying up late doing assignments was both unproductive and unhealthy.

We need to stop thinking that staying up late and working on tasks is an efficient use of time. You won’t be as productive when your mind is sluggish. Why fight to stay awake when you could get rest and start fresh in the morning? If you stay up late working on projects you will be tired and groggy the next day. It is simply not worth it. Always make sure to get plenty of rest at night. Accomplish your most important tasks first thing in the morning. It’s the best and most productive way.

Composition Time Management Writing

Giving Your Creativity a Time Limit

In this blog post I would like to tell you about an interesting idea regarding music composition that was once told to me by a college professor I used to study with. This idea can also apply to writing and other creative pursuits as well. The idea is about giving yourself a time limit when you create a new composition. For example, you might tell yourself that you have to write a song in one hour. By giving yourself a time limit, you force yourself to create in a more focused way.

Do not strive for perfection

Artists, writers, musicians, and other creative individuals can often become perfectionists at times. We want to be creative and produce new works but there is often that critic inside of us who wants things to be completely perfect. The act of creating no longer becomes a source of joy because we become too concerned with being “perfect” in what we create. Faced with trying to produce an amazing work of art we may feel that the task is too much and just put it off for another day. This can make an individual fail to create anything at all.

Practice your craft daily

Composing music or writing should be practiced daily, just like practicing an instrument or exercising. If we do not practice composing new material, we can not improve as composers. The first compositions we write will most likely not be that great. We need to keep practicing the craft of composition in order to create new and interesting works. The advantage of having a time limit on composition is that it forces you to create something new today. By creating something new each day you are gaining practice in composition.

Time Management

We live in a busy world. We have work, family, sleep, shopping, and many other things we need to take care of on a daily basis. It becomes difficult to accomplish new artistic productions if we are not disciplined in setting aside specific amounts of time in order to accomplish a task within those time periods. This works in academic settings when instructors require students to turn in essays at specific dates. It can be stressful on students sometimes to meet deadlines, but these due dates do create time pressure which pushes students to finish works in a timely manner. Without time pressure of some kind we may not finish projects that we start at all.

There is a tangible benefit to setting aside specific amounts of time and making sure you accomplish specific creative tasks within those time periods. Similar to a student taking a timed test, it gets your adrenaline going slightly as you create. The approach forces you do get right down to business and create something. It reduces procrastination and eliminates writers blog since you have a quick window within which you have to create something. Give this method a try for yourself sometime and see if it works for you. I’d love to hear about your results in the comment section.

Thank you for reading my blog today and have a great day.

How To Life Time Management

The Power of Planning Your Day

In this article I am going to write about a new time management strategy I am implementing starting today. The idea is that I am going to specifically plan out my day the night before so I have an exact agenda of what I want to accomplish that day. This way, less time is wasted wondering what I should be working on. You may already implement a strategy such as this. This article is for people who are interested in the benefits of such an approach.

The basic idea is to write out or enter into your smartphone exactly what you want to be doing tomorrow. For example, from 9:30 – 10:00 AM I will work on a blog post. From 10:00 – 11:00 I will work on a song. From 11:00 – 12:00 I will work on a YouTube video. Next, I will take a break for lunch, from 12:00-1:00 PM. After that, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, I will work on photography. You get the idea.

This way you always know ahead of time exactly what it is you’re supposed to be working on at that time. This is a technique for people who are busy but still have the ambition to do a large amount of activities.

Why plan out your day?

The reason I have started implementing this method is because it feels that I am wasting too much time doing things which are not productive. Instead of writing a blog post, I will be scrolling aimlessly through Twitter. Instead of working on music, sometimes I will get stuck just watching the news for hours. It’s good to ration some time for news consumption and social media, but when it takes over too much of your time it can be counterproductive.

Another lesson to be learned here is that if you find yourself doing too much of the same thing for too long, you’re probably doing something wrong. What I mean by that is, if you’re sitting and playing video games until from dusk until dawn, that’s not healthy. Try doing some other activities. A better day might have one hour of video games, one hour of exercise, one hour of reading, one hour of writing, one hour of doing housework, etc.

Why do so much in a day?

It’s a good idea to do a lot of different things in a day. It prevents you from being bored and it also increases your chances of success. Imagine if you spent years working on a book but never told anyone about it. You could have a masterpiece but it might be lost. I used to be very anti social media. Recently, I realized that you kind of need to engage on social media. Most other musicians and artists are doing so and if you do not do it then you may be left behind or forgotten about. However, do not spend so much time on social media that you neglect your art.

My main point is this. Do not do just one kind of activity in a day and think that’s all you have to do. Try to do many different things. If you are a musician, do a Podcast. If you are an artist, start a YouTube channel. Nowadays we need to try different things to get our message across. Don’t be forgotten about. Spend your time wisely.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.
